PURPOSE:To perform burst transmission under the state to secure guard time against longer transmission distance by changing transmission frame length according to detected guard time. CONSTITUTION:A burst signal is set to specified frame length in a register 12 by a main controller 11, is dye-phase encoded in a modulator 13, and is transferred by a timing controller 14 through a transformer 15 to a remote device. The remote device performs dye-phase decoding of a receiving burst signal in a demodulator 15 and stores it in a register 16. A detector 17 detects the guard time between transmitting and receiving burst signals. The main controller 11 decides newly the transmission frame length according to this guard time to control a register 12 and output a transmitting burst signal and processes data input from the main body of an exchange to output a transmitting burst signal for each transmission frame length.
