PURPOSE:To attenuate Fresnel-reflected light by providing spacers to both ends of a metallic terminal fitting held and fixed with an optical fiber on the central axis and dividing the light loss part thereof to a connector plug part and receptacle part. CONSTITUTION:The spacer 3 and spacer 7 have respectively the loses corresponding to the lengths thereof and the total of the losses thereof is the loss quantity that this optical fixing attenuator possesses. The spacer 3 and the spacer 7 function respectively as an optical connector plug and an optical receptacle. The increased Fresnel reflection surface is only at the end face of the optical connector plug of an optical transmission path even if the optical fixing attenuator is connected into the transmission line via an adapter by inserting the spacers to the optical connector plug part and optical receptacle part so as to provide the optical losses thereto in the above-mentioned manner. The reflected light at the optical fiber end face on the plug side or receptacle side of the optical fixing attenuator is then attenuated by the loss of the spacer itself and no adverse influence is exerted to the transmission side laser diode any more. The above-mentioned attenuation corresponds equivalently to a decrease in the reflection points. |
