PURPOSE:To prevent short circuit caused by vertical elongation of cathode plates by mounting a short-circuit preventing projection near an anode plate on the back side of a cover to stop the elongation of positive plates. CONSTITUTION:A short circuit preventing projection 9 is mounted to a cover 8 so as to locate near an anode pole 7 on the back side of the cover 8. The projection 9 is mounted so as to intersect at right angles to a cathode plate 1, and formed so as to have the same width as dimension of length of the cathode plate group. The projection 9 is formed so that its lower part locates in the lower position than the straight line connecting a point A which is the joint of lug of the cathode plate 1 to a point B which is the outermost lower part of an anode strap 5. Even if the cathode plate extends upward, the projection 9 stops vertical elongation of the cathode plate near the anode strap 5. Therefore, short circuit caused by contact of the cathode plate with the anode strap can be prevented. |
