PURPOSE:To provide an image without lost parts by performing the reduction of an image corresponding to an opposite facsimile equipment by using an optical processing when the image information is sent to the facsimile equipment having different main scanning resolution. CONSTITUTION:When image information is sent to the facsimile equipment in G3 mode, a rotation driving means 9 is operated to rotate a mirror 5 for about 180 deg. its rear side 5b of a mirror 5 toward is orientated toward the carrier channel 4 of the sending manuscript to read the image on the sending manuscript A. The written image corresponding the G3 machine is projected on a linear image sensor 2. In case the image information is sent to a facsimile in G4 mode, the reduced image corresponding to the mode is projected when the surface mirror side 5a is oriented to the sending manuscript carrier channel 4 to read it.
