PURPOSE:To permit the easy butting of core base materials and to improve the characteristics of a titled head by forming a nonmagnetic gap spacer material on the gap forming surface of one core base material and laminating and depositing by sputtering a material consisting of the compsn. equal to the core base material thereon. CONSTITUTION:An SiO2 layer 22 which is the nonmagnetic gap spacer material is deposited by sputtering on the gap forming surface of an upper corner part 1. The thin layer deposited by sputtering similarly an alloy material 22 consisting of the compsn. for a 'Sendust(R)' core is sandwiched between the cores in the stage of joining the cores than the cores are joined to form the head. Block pieces 3, 6 are pressed under about 0.5kgf/cm<2> pressure by clamping jigs and are rested for 20-40min at about 1,000-1,200 deg.C in an atmosphere kept under 10<-6> Torr vacuum degree in the case of joining the block pieces 3, 6. An adhesive alloy layer 23 and a thin 'Sendust(R)' alloy layer 22 are then adhered tightly to the upper corner part 5a and flat butt part 7 of the other side by the thermal diffusion. The formation of a back gap in the stage of joining the cores is obviated and therefore the magnetic characteristic is remarkably improved.
