PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of valve lift characteristic by providing at least two systems of transmission mechanism for plural number of valves per cylinder and, on either of the systems, providing an interlock changeover mechanism by which the inter lock between cams with different form and a valve is changed over. CONSTITUTION:Two intake valves 3 and 4 are provided on each cylinder 2, and a high-speed type cam 6 and a low-speed type cam 7 for an intake valve 3 and a cam 8 for an intake valve 4 are arranged. The intake valve 3 and cams 6, 7 are interlocked by a rocker arm 10 having an interlock changeover mechanism 13 by which cams 6 and 7 are selectively brought in an interlocked state, and the intake valve 4 and the cam 8 are interlocked by an ordinary rocker arm 30. The rocker arm 10 is divided into the first arm 11 having a contact part to the cam 6 and the second arm 12 having contact parts to the intake valve 3 and the cam 7, and both arms 11 and 12 are so supported that the relative motion around a rocker shaft 9 can be enabled.
