PURPOSE:To obtain industrially and advantageously the titled compound useful as a film-forming vehicle for inorganic strongly anticorrosive coating materials, etc., by the presence of a small amount of water in the initial period of reaction in reacting fine powdery elementary silicon with a lower alcohol in the presence of potassium hydroxide, etc. CONSTITUTION:Fine powdery elementary silicon is reacted with a lower alcohol preferably in 1-10mol alcohol ratio based on 1mol silicon in the presence of potassium hydroxide or rubidium hydroxide and alkoxide thereof and further a small amount of water, preferably 0.01-0.5mol based on 1mol silicon, in the initial period of the reaction, preferably at 160-220 deg.C to give the aimed compound. |
