PURPOSE:To metallize the surface of a molding consisting of a polyphenylene sulfide resin and inorg. filler by roughening the surface of said molding with a specific chloride dissolved in an org. solvent and treating the surface with an acid, alkali or salt then subjecting the surface to electroless plating. CONSTITUTION:The powder of the inorg. filler such as alumina, silica, magnesia or titania having 0.5-10mu average grain size is added at 10-250pts.wt. to 100pts. wt. polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin and is kneaded by a screw extruder, etc. The mixture is molded to a desired shape by an injection molding machine, extrusion molding machine, etc. The molding is immersed into the liquid of 60-80 deg.C prepd. by dissolving 5-20g chloride type Friedel-Crafts reaction catalyst such as anhydrous aluminum chloride into 100cc org. solvent such as benzene or toluene to roughen the surface of the molding. The surface is then treated with the acid, alkali or salt according to the kind of the inorg. filler and is then subjected to an electroless plating treatment, by which the surface of the molding is metallized. |
