PURPOSE:To automate ejection of a magnetic disc by moving once a head to the innermost circumference track side so as to engage a head carrier and an eject lever and ejecting a magnetic disc cartridge while the head carrier is moved toward the peripheral side. CONSTITUTION:When the 1st magnetic head 17 and the 2nd magnetic head 20 are at a position corresponding to a position at least at the inner circumference side from recording areas A1, A2 of a disc 4, a lock part 44a of a lever 44 and a projection 23a of a connecting body 23 are engaged. Then a motor 28a is driven with a drive frequency smaller than the normal drive frequency moved between tracks at the recording/reproduction and the drive of a read screw 28b moves the connecting body 23 in the outer diameter direction of a magnetic disc 4. When a lock part 44a contacts the projection of a chassis 1 attended with the movement of an eject lever 9, the engagement between the lock part 44a and the projection 23a is released and the ejection of the cartridge 5 is finished.
