PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of any drop in stability during car driving, by constituting a device so as to prohibit a top supporting mechanism from shifting at a time when a car speed is more than the specified value, in case of the top type roof device bearing the above caption. CONSTITUTION:A fuse 142, an engine operation detecting switch 170 and a high-speed cut relay 160 are all set up between a movable pillar driving circuit 150 and a power source 141. And, a pulse generator 163 makes a switch terminal 163b turn on or off by rotation of a magnetic rotary element 163a rotating according to a car speed and generates a pulse signal in response to the car speed. This pulse signal is counted by a counter 164, and that whether the car speed is larger than the specified value or not is judged. If the judged result exceeds the specified value, a coil 162 is energized with a current whereby the high-speed cur relay 160 comes off, and energization to the movable pillar driving circuit 150 is stopped, thus movement of a movable pillar is checked. Doing like this, any drop in stability during car driving is prevented from occurring.
