NEW MATERIAL:A 1,3,6-trimethyluracil expressed by formula I (n represents 0 or 1; R' represents hydroxyl, methoxy or amino acid residue linked to CO through amino group, and the terminal carboxyl group of the amino acid residue may be esterified). EXAMPLE:5-Carboxy-1,3,6-trimethyluracil. USE:Useful as a medicine, e.g. carcinostatic agent or intermediate for producing the medicine having antitumor effect. PREPARATION:Dimethyl sulfate is dropped to 6-methyluracil in an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide while cooling with ice and stirring, and the resultant mixture is heated for several hours to give 1,3,6-trimethyluracil, which is then mixed with dimethylformamide. Phosphorus oxychloride is dropped to the resultant mixture while cooling with ice and the mixture is heated and oxidized to afford the exemplified compound. |
