The headlamp for motor vehicles is mounted in the frame and can be swivelled in the vertical direction by means of an adjusting device (12). The device (12) which is made of plastic has a housing (31) which can be latched onto the frame (11) and in which the driving helical gearwheel (37) and the driven helical gearwheel (29) of the helical gear mechanism can be latched with axes (39, 40) intersecting at right angles. The screw (20) fixed in the driven helical gearwheel (29) is axially secured in the latching element (21) and cooperates with the base piece (19) of the reflector (10).
