<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a substance having vasodilating activity, by extracting an animal of Elapidae family with water and/or a hydrophilic organic solvent of with an acid-containing water and/or a hydrophilic organic solvent, and fractionating the extract. CONSTITUTION:An animal belonging to Elapidae family (e.g. an animal of Naja genus, Bungarus genus, Calliophis genus, etc.) is extracted with water and/or a hydrophilic organic solvent (e.g. methanol) or an acid-containing water and/or a hydrophilic organic solvent (the acid is e.g. hydrochloric acid), and the extract is fractionated by gel-filtration treatment, ion-exchange treatment and/or adsorbent treatment to obtain an active component having a molecular weight of <=500. One of the active component is hypoxanthine 9-beta-riboflavinoside of formula. It has vasodilating activity and is utilizable in various forms such as injection, ointment, etc.</p> |
