发明名称 CAST IRON ALLOY MEMBER HAVING RESISTANCE TO CORROSION BY FORMIC ACID
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain cast iron parts having superior resistance to corrosion by formic acid by forming Fe-Sn solid soln. layers on the surfaces of cast iron parts by the alloying of Sn. CONSTITUTION:When a cast iron engine using methanol as fuel is driven, formic acid is produced by the combustion of methanol and corrodes the engine. In order to prevent the corrosion, Sn powder is thermally sprayed on the inside of the cylinder bore in the engine, and the thermally sprayed Sn layer is alloyed with part of the cast iron by means of TIG arc to form a solid soln. layer of an Fe-Sn alloy having 0.1-5wt% average concn. of Sn. The solid soln. layer acts as a protective layer which prevents the corrosion of the cast iron by formic acid, so the cast iron engine using methanol as fuel is put to practical use.
