PURPOSE:To protect the stored information to the maximum and to improve the reliability of the information and the performance of the equipment by providing a memory protecting means composed of an information output means for erroneous memory inspection and an erroneous memory inspecting means. CONSTITUTION:The information from a timer circuit 1 and an external input circuit 2 is processed by a central control circuit 3 and stored into an information storing circuit 4. In such a case, the information for erroneous memory inspection is updated by an information output circuit 5 for erroneous memory inspection. After that, at the time of replacing the battery, the power supply voltage is decreased, and when oscillation, etc., are stopped, the circuit except the circuit 4 is initialized. Next, the circuit 3 uses the information for erroneous memory inspection in the circuit 4 and inspects the information through an erroneous memory inspecting circuit 6. As the result, when the information can not be restored, the circuit 4 is initialized. Thus, the battery is quickly replaced, the battery is replaced while the battery is compensated by other electric power source, and then, the information in the portable information equipment is protected as much as possible, and therefore, the reliability of information and the performance of the equipment can be improved.
