PURPOSE:To eliminate the projection of burrs on a pin fracture surface by forming preliminarily the flange part of a rivet tube to a dish head shape and deforming plastically the flange part to a round head or pan head shape together with caulking of the tube body part. CONSTITUTION:The blind rivet 11 is constituted by forming the flange part 13a of the rivet tube 13 to be seated to a nose piece 15 of a caulking tool 14 to the dish head shape and forming the piece 15 so as to have the recessed forming surface 15a. The tube 13 is inserted into rivet holes 6 of panel parts W1, W2 and when the tube 13 is caulked by pulling the pin 12, the tube 13 is crushed and is plastically deformed. The flange part 13a is plastically deformed to the round head or pan head shape in compliance with the forming surface 15a when the crushed tube attains nearly the limit of the plastic deformation. The projection of the burrs on the pin fracture surface of the blind rivet is thus prevented.
