PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of separating membranes by the effect of microorganisms and to lessen the decrease in the rate of liquid permeation by immobilizing the microorganisms to the separating membranes attached to perforated supporting plates thereby making compact the constitution over the entire part of a device. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of the perforated supporting plates 4 of which both surfaces can contact with the feed liquid introduced thereon are installed into a tank body 1 into which the feed liquid is introduced. The separating membranes 5 are attached to both surfaces of these plates 4. Microorganism- immobilized layers 6 are provided on the membranes 5 and pipings 7 for discharging the liquid from the plates 4 are connected to the bottom wall 1b of the tank body 1. More specifically, the microorganisms are immobilized on the membranes 5 and therefore the constitution over the entire part of the device is made compact. The clogging of the separating membranes is prevented by the effect of the microorganisms, by which the decrease in the rate of liquid permeation is lessened. The separating membranes require extremely fewer frequencies of cleaning.
