PURPOSE:To increase a recording speed and to prevent the generation of color shift, by providing a number of printing heads corresponding to the number of the monochromatic parts of an ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:In the first scanning of a carriage 20, the printing head 23a corresponding to the Y-color at the most righthand end reaches a point P to start printing. The printing head 23b corresponding to a M-color reaches the point C to start the printing of a M-color printing region and the printing head 23C corresponding to a C-color reaches the point P to start the printing of a C-color printing region. On and after, three printing heads 23a, 23b, 23c are simultaneously operated but, when the printing head 23c corresponding to the Y-color at the most righthand end reaches a point P', printing operation is finished and the printing head 23c is separated from recording paper R. When all of the printing heads 23a-23c exceed the point P' and are separated from the recording paper R, a carriage is moved to the left and returned to the home position. The recording paper R is sent by one line during this time. Subsequently, the second scanning of the carriage is started and this operation is successively started to continuously obtain a color print. |
