PURPOSE:To eliminate looseness in folding of a sheet of paper and carry out a tight folding by reciprocating said paper many times between a pair of drive and idle rolls. CONSTITUTION:When a sensor 16 detects a sheet of paper 20, a normal rotation clutch 5 is turned on causing a drive roll 14 and an idler roll 13 to rotate normally. The paper 20 is folded by, and passes between, the rolls 14, 13 and proceeds and, when it is detected by a sensor 17, the clutch 5 is turned off while, at the same time, a reverse clutch 6 is turned on reversing the rolls 14, 13 to convey the paper 20 in the opposite direction, sending it in the reverse direction between both rolls 14, 13. By repeating the on-off of the clutches 5, 6, the paper 20 is repeatedly reciprocated a few times between both rolls 14, 13, to obtain tight folding of the paper 20. |
