PURPOSE:To make possible the discrimination between the cores of optical fibers by a size difference by uniting different-diameter clad optical fibers and different-diameter core optical fibers to one body in such a manner that said fibers mingle with each other. CONSTITUTION:The diameters of the cores 11a, 12a of the optical fibers 11, 12 are made equal and the diameters of the clads 11b, 12b thereof are changed. The respective diameters of the cores 11a, 12a and the clads 11b, 12b are otherwise changed and the clads 11b, 12b are welded to each other. Primary coating layers 13, 14 are integrally formed to the outside periphery thereof. The fibers 11, 12 are identified by the difference in the diameter of the clads viewed with a magnifying glass. The easy identification of the optical fibers is made possible by passing light to the optical fibers and viewing the core diameter with a microscope in the case of the constitution in which the core diameters are large and the clad diameters are equal.
