The invention relates to a gear-shift device for multi-speed gear hubs for bicycles, which is arranged at one free end of the hub axle and serves to adjust a shift pin guided in the hub axle for the purpose of adjusting the gear-shift stages, a locking device which can be shifted in increments being provided. A lever element which can be swivelled by means of a control cable acts on a directly adjacent, spring-loaded lever during a swivel movement by means of a driver element. This lever is continuously in engagement by means of a toothed quadrant with the end of the shift pin guided in the hub axle and, at the same time, is in operative connection by means of a driver element with a directly adjacent latch lever which interacts with a catch provided in the housing of the shift device. A shift device of this kind is suitable for shifting shift hubs with more than three speeds and with a single shift pin in the hub axle (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
