PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of malfunction of a forward shift fork, according to the method wherein, during operation of a reverse shift fork, inertia rotation of an input shaft is prevented from occurring through the synchronous action of the synchronous mechanism of a forward gear train, and a stopper prevents a shift piece from entring a recessed part in a shift piece. CONSTITUTION:A cam mechanism 57, shifting a shift fork 23 by a distance of a low stroke L in linkage with a reverse shift fork 39, operated from a position (a) to a position (b) of a reverse idle gear 6, is situated between the shift fork 39, shifting the reverse idle gear 6 form the position (b) to a position (c), and a forward shift fork 23. A recessed part 60, allowing only the low stroke shift motion of the shift fork 23, is formed in an interlock plate 45. A stopper 64, preventing a shift piece 22a from entering the recessed part 60 by making contact with the outer surface of the interlock plate 46 into contact, is mounted to a shift piece 22a of a shift fork 22 positioned facing the recessed part 60 when a change lever is present in a neutral position.
