The wind power machine has a working head which is to be mounted on a support, can pivot about the vertical axis, comprises a vane rotor, as the case may be a current generator and a wind vane for tracking the vane rotor into the optimum wind direction, and is provided with a device controlled as a function of wind direction for the purpose of holding the vane rotor in the optimum wind direction. For the purpose of accurately positioning the vane rotor in its working position without play, at least one braking wind vane is provided, which can be deflected by wind power and whose surface facing the wind is at right angles to the axis of rotation of the vane rotor, and in addition the holding device is constructed as a friction brake which is held operated upon deflection of the braking wind vane.
