The invention relates to a clamping device for air-supported slides in precision instruments with the primary aim of improving the reliability of measurements and the accuracy of positioning. The intention is to achieve clamping of the slide with a high degree of reliability and safety at any point along its guideway, irrespective of changes in the load and air pressure. Arranged on a slide supported aerostatically on a bed is a pivotable two-armed clamping lever which, at one end, has a clamping jaw and, at its other end, has a valve which interrupts the flow of air to the air bearing, the valve having a valve-closing element and connections for the supply and discharge of air. Arranged in the slide is an actuating element which acts counter to the valve-closing element, which is supported under spring loading in the clamping lever. <IMAGE> |
