PURPOSE:To obtain a color photographic sensitive material superior in sharpness and the like by incorporating a diffusion-resistant coupler to be allowed to release an alkali-soluble dye or a colorless compd. by development processing and further to be allowed to release a development inhibitor oxidation reaction. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide emulsion layer or a hydrophilic colloidal layer contains a compd. represented by formula I in which A is a coupler residue to be cleft at the bond A-RED by the reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent to form an alkali-soluble dye or a colorless compd.; RED is a group, after the cleavage from A, being oxidized to release the development inhibitor DI; and Ballast is an org. group for giving diffusion resistance. It is preferred for the group A to have a substituent having COOH, SO3H, or OH, and this compd. is embodied by formula II, thus permitting a sharp image small in color turbidity to be obtained. |
