A closeable cuboid envelope container, which is connected at one narrow side to a running gear which is guided by rails of an upright conveyor installation, preferably with positive fitting, with only one degree of freedom existing in the conveying direction, is designed according to the invention for the receipt and removal and transport of trough-shaped containers which are open at the top, in the manner of a hinged box (3), whose lower shell (2) is pivotable about a pivot (7) which is arranged in a stationary manner on the running gear, parallel to the conveying direction and close to the station edge of the connecting narrow side. On the lid shell (4) thereof, which can be pivoted by hand, a guide bolt (10) is arranged laterally and forms, together with an S-shaped guide cam (11 to 14), the hinge (3) and the pivot axle (7), a kinematic mechanism which couples the pivoting movements of the two shells in such a manner that, by swinging the lid shell down then up again through approximately 1/2 of a right angle in each case relative to the perpendicular, the lower shell is pivoted, relative thereto, through a complete right angle out of the upright position into the horizontal open position or vice versa. The effect of the mechanism is that the envelope container automatically remains closed or is closed until, or as soon as, the lower shell is situated in a pivoting region of at least 40 degrees adjacent to the upright position (Fig. 3). <IMAGE>
