PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compact separator capable of efficiently separating liq. and solid, having excellent dimensional stability and having no troubles in regenerating the surface by using a rotary filter using a filter medium consisting of a hard porous material. CONSTITUTION:A raw liq. is discharged from a liq. discharge hole 30 and sprinkled over the upper surface of a filter medium 1 consisting of a hard porous material. The inside of the filter medium 1 is kept at a reduced pressure by a suction pump 15 through a pipe 16 and a hollow rotary shaft 4 and the filter medium is slowly rotated by the driving of a motor 12 in the direction as shown by the arrow A. Accordingly, the liq. component of the raw liq. sprinkled over the surface of the filter medium 1 is passed through the filter medium 1 by the sucking action and discharged to the outside of the system from the pipe 16 through the hollow rotary shaft 4 as a liq. sucking hole, the solid component remains on the surface and a stable caky layer is formed. The solid component 18 which is the caky layer is scraped by a scraper 17 and removed and the surface of the filter medium 1 is simultaneously renewed at this part.
