PURPOSE:To enable both speed and accuracy in positioning to be improved by configurating a device in such a way that both a detecting means which detects a point, from which speed is decelerated, and a starting point detecting means for positioning are provided in a stacker crane positioning device for a rental safe-deposit case. CONSTITUTION:An attribute from a starting point P to each of the delivery point of container shelves B is stored in a control section in advance. When a stacker crane comes close to the delivery point, the edge end of No.1 dog 2a is detected by No.1 sensor 3a, this allows the crane to start decelerating. And a stop command is directed when the rear end of No.1 dog 2a is apart from the sensor 3a. After a customer has made use of an equipment, when the stacker crane travels toward the container shelf, an encoder 1d starts counting a distance pulse signal as soon as No.2 sensor 3b is apart from No.2 dog 2b allowing an actual attribute to be compared with the set position point followed by the suspension of the crane at the specified position. This configuration allows both speed and accuracy in positioning to be improved.
