<p>An appropriately constructed packing is described as a filler for incorporation in thermal separating columns in processing technology and for use in tubes and channels for the performance of mixing processes in flowing media. It consists of cross-sectional filler packing layers with pyramid-shaped partly-open projections or recesses which are so arranged that a part of the surfaces of adjacent pyramid-shaped elements form stationary arrangements of fan-shaped wings. As a result, the contact between the phases or components matching the inserts is increased and the peripheral movement of the flowing media is restricted. Apart from the possibility of constructing such packing materials from layers which are arranged perpendicularly to the column or channel axis, methods are indicated for the production of such inserts by the superimposition of metal sheets which maintain their shape simply by stamping and edging.</p> |
