Novel renin inhibitory peptides of the formula X-A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-Z wherein E-F is a dihalo-substituted statine group, X and Z are terminal groups, and the remaining variables are absent or amino acid residues. These compounds are useful for administration to humans to treat hypertension.
