A holding device for an item of cutlery for the disabled, having a connection piece for receiving a knife, a fork, a spoon or another item of cutlery, which connection piece is positioned in the region of the palm of the hand and, on one side, has a bearing for receiving an item of cutlery provided with a corresponding projection in an angular position which is or can be predetermined in terms of its longitudinal axis relative to the connection piece and, on the other side, is or can be firmly connected to a hand clip or arm clip which is known per se.
