PURPOSE:To maintain stabilized machining accuracy for a long time by compen sating and controlling the degree made by the central axis of a workpiece and a grindstone shaft according to the dress wearing amount operated on the basis of the dress resistance detected at the time of dressing a grindstone. CONSTITUTION:At the time of dressing a grindstone 5 by a dressing device 12, the actual dress resistance is detected by a dress resistance detector 16. This is compared with the characteristic table stored in the memory section 24 of an objective swivel amount operation circuit 23 in a control device 17 to refer a constant K corresponding to the dress resistance. And an objective swivel amount Qo=Qs-K is determined with the constant K and the initial swivel amount Qs set by a set circuit 22. After this dressing process and before grinding a workpiece W by the grindstone 5, the signal corresponding to the objective amount Qo is output to a sequence control circuit 18 to rotate a main spindle table 9 by a swivel motor 10 around a swivel point P. In the next step, the degree made by the central axis of the workpiece W on a main spindle 11 and the grindstone shaft 3 of a grindstone spindle stock 2 is compensated to the degree equal to Qo. Stabilized machining accuracy is, thus, obtained.
