The invention relates to a correction fluid for recording materials which contains a dispersion liquid, pigments, fillers, binders and a colour-reaction system comprising colour donor, colour acceptor and solvent therefor, where one of these components necessary for the colour reaction is present in microcapsules, and optionally further additives. The solvent is present in microcapsules on its own, i.e. without colour donor or colour acceptor dissolved therein. This solvent is an essentially water-immiscible liquid. The dispersion liquid is an aqueous system. This correction fluid is environmentally friendly and has a long shelf life. It can be used universally in a wide variety of recording systems whose image generation takes place by means of aqueous (water-borne) or non-aqueous inks, carbon ribbons, fabric ribbons, or pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive colour-reaction media.
