PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a system by adopting the system constitution in which a power source control part is operated in a system reset period as well. CONSTITUTION:This electronic timepiece is so constituted that a voltage detecting means 4, a limiter means 2 and a voltage increasing and decreasing means 8 are held in an active state in spite of a frequency dividing circuit and various clock functions are reset in the system reset stage. The signal from an external switch is converted by an external switch control means 25 to a control signal, by which the various clock functions 24, etc. are controlled. A system reset signal SR is outputted as one thereof. The signal SR is applied only to part of the frequency dividing circuit 23 and the functions 24 and is not applied to the voltage detecting means 26, the limiter means 27 and the voltage increasing means 28. The operation of only the voltage control is thus made possible without hindering the system reset function such as setting of the initial value of the clock function at all.
