PURPOSE:To keep an object in a precisely positioned condition by a method wherein the object is put in a recessed part formed on the top end of a support means, i.e. a slider, and the object is pressed by a positioning mechanism before it is held by a gripper. CONSTITUTION:When an air cylinder 36 is operated and an operation shaft 37a is actuated to the protruding direction, a gripper 34 is turned clockwise and pressed against a video head 1 whose other end is attracted by a recessed part 31 so that the head 1 is held by both the gripper 34 and one side surface of the recessed part 31. When an operation shaft 43 operates to drive a rack 41 to the descending direction, a pinion 40 turns counterclockwise and a rotary shaft 37 is linked with this movement. Therefore, a pressing member 38 is turned counterclockwise and an elastic body 39 provided on the opposite side of the pressing member 38 to the rotary shaft 37 is pressed against both sides of a head chip 3 of a video head. With this constitution, a wire which is wound around the chip 3 is held by the elastic body 39.
