PURPOSE:To manage definitely an address fault with a management station (ST) by utilizing a normal ST as a method informing an address and a fault to the management ST. CONSTITUTION:The address rationality of a ST is checked by circulating an address rationality check frame (DAT) through a ring by the ST every time a new ST 22 is connected to the ring 1. The own ST number is set to a destination address of the DAT and the ST receiving it sets a reception display to the said frame. A new ST checks the rationality of the own ST number by using the reception display. A ST (first-come duplicated ST) having the same ST number discriminates it that an address unrational fault exists in the ST sending the DAT when the destination address receives the DAT equal to the own ST number after the end of check. The first-come duplicated ST informs easily the fault to the management ST 10. Further, the new ST stores the location address of the own ST to the DAT and the first-come duplicated ST reports it also to the management ST 10 so as to discriminate the location of the faulty ST.
