PURPOSE:A transparent resin excellent in heat resistance, moldability, water absorptivity, hardness, etc., obtained by polymerizing a specified neopentyl glycol bisallyl carbonate monomer. CONSTITUTION:The polymerization of 100pts.wt. neopentyl glycol bisallylcarbonate monomer of formula I (wherein R1 is H or CH3 and R2 is CH2, CH2OCH2CH2, formula II or formula III) with, optionally, 10-900pts.wt. other copolymerizable monomer (e.g., methyl acrylate) is started at room temperature-50 deg.C in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator (e.g., benzoyl peroxide) and stopped at 70-120 deg.C to obtain a transparent resin having neopentyl glycol bisallylcarbonate of formula IV.
