PURPOSE:To obtain a high reliable fluorescent lamp, by butt joining two glass tubes providing with step difference, so as to increase the mechanical strength of the adhered part. CONSTITUTION:Short straight tubular inner tubes 2, 3 are pinch sealed together with electrodes 6, 7 to the flare 9 provided with collar part 8 in the pinch sealing part 10. The inner tubes 4, 5 applied with fluorescent material on the inside surface are adhesive bonded to the said inner tubes 2, 3 using inorganic adhesive 16. As it is constructed by adhering the bended inner tubes 4, 5 to the inner tubes 2, 3 after they have been pinch sealed, so the open ends 12, 13 of the tubes 4, 5 can be extended to the region between the pinch sealed part 10 and the collar part 8 to elongate the discharging path, and hence a high efficient fluorescent lamp of the electric lamp type can be obtained. At the bonded part, the step difference is provided by making the thickness of the inner glass tubes 4, 5 larger than that of the said inner tubes 2, 3.
