In a method of measuring the Reid Vapour Pressure, as defined in the ASTM D-323 procedure, of a liquid hydrocarbon material, a sample of material (61) is drawn from a sample can (60) into a sample chamber (10) containing a bellows (12) and thence to a measuring chamber (20). An expansion chamber (30) containing a bellows (32) connects with the measuring chamber (20) for adjusting the amount of air within the measuring chamber (20) and for setting the pressure within the measuring chamber (20) before introduction of the sample so that RVP measurement occurs at the appropriate pressure.
