PURPOSE:To obtain a variable scanning speed without changing remarkably the frequency of an output signal by fixing the horizontal driving pulse of a solid-state image pickup element at a constant frequency and changing a vertical scanning period. CONSTITUTION:A vertical scanning frequency dividing circuit 40 divides a pulse synchronized with a vertical synchronizing signal to 1/n (n is a positive integer) and generates a pulse 51. A control circuit 41 is a circuit to command the value of the (n) and there are two cases to fix the value of the n that; one is that the value of the n is fixed manually and the other is that it is fixed automatically according to the output level of the solid-state image pickup element. As examples of the automatic setting of the value of the n, there are some cases such as; the case to change the value of the (n) according to the brightness of an object, or the case to fix the value of the (n) by detecting the moving speed of the object with keeping the inter-frame correlation of the object, etc. The output pulse 51 of the dividing circuit 40 is sent to a vertical start pulse generating circuit 29 and generates a vertical start pulse 12'. |
