PURPOSE:To realize a high resolution with less color moire by using two sheets of stripe filters having the repeated period of which are shifted with each other and realizing a color filter constitution of delta arrangement with shifting two solid state image pickup elements by 1/2 pitch in the horizontal and vertical directions. CONSTITUTION:A stripe filter consists of additive complementary colors of a transparent part 11 (W) which transmits all area of visual light, a cyan part 12 (Cy) which transmits the color light of blue and green and a yellow part 13 (Ye) which transmits the color light of red and green, and consists of two kinds of stripe filters 5 and 6; the stripe filter which has a type repeating W-Cy- Ye that a left end starts from the W, and the Cy and the Ye follow and the other is that has a type repeating Ye-W-Cy that the left end starts from the Ye, and the W and the Cy follows. The two sheets of the stripe filters are located on solid state image pickup elements 7 and 8 and either one solid state image pickup element is located shifting in the horizontal and vertical directions by 1/2 of the distance between the picture elements against the other one. Thus, it is possible to realize the color filter that is arranged with closest packing in space.
