PURPOSE:To recognize easily the state of an electronic device by providing a reply request function to a control means in an electronic apparatus having the electronic device and a control means for controlling the state of the said electronic apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A control signal SC is sent to a receiver 1 and a VTR 2 by a commander 3 to execute various controls for the receiver 1 and the VTR 2. The control signal SC from the commander 3 includes a reply request signal SQ. When the receiver 1 and the VTR 2 receive the said signal SQ, a reply signal SA representing the own status is returned. The commander 3 uses the built-in microcomputer to process the return signal and gives a display onto a display device 3a based on the signal SA. After the commander 3 sends the reply request signal SQ, the commander 3 is brought into the reception state in response to the transmission of the reply signal SA and the power consumption is saved.
