PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency of utilization of recording face and to eliminate restriction of data length by recording clock information in a specified position at the outside of an information area in which servo information and data information are recorded. CONSTITUTION:Data information and servo information are mixed in signals read out by a data head 3, and this is separated into data signals and servo signals by a high-frequency BPF 17 and a low-frequency BPF 8 of a signal separator circuit 10. On the other hand, signals of the same frequency as that of the servo information are recorded on a clock track 14, and the amount and direction of positional deviation from a specified track position are known by sampling servo signals setting a clock signal read out by a clock head as a reference. By using this information, the amount of positional deviation of the head can be corrected.
