The material having a larger axial is advantageously used for increasing the degree of orientation and narrowing the anisotropic dispersion of the magnetic particles. The magnetic field distributions Hor and Had1-Hadn can be easily formed as intended by changing the clearance between counter magnetic poles, the width of a magnet in the proceeding direction of a medium, the clearance with the adjacent magnet, the width of a magnet in the proceeding direction of a medium, the interval with the adjacent magnet and the kind of a magnet (alnico, Ba ferrite, Sm cobalt, etc.) on a trial-and error basis.
