PURPOSE:To attain high sensitivity, low fog and high photosensitivity to blue light by making the iodine content in each of silver bromide and/or silver iodobromide particles higher on the inside and by sensitizing the silver halide particles with a specified blue-sensitive dye. CONSTITUTION:A structure consisting of a core and a shell is provided to silver bromide and/or silver iodobromide particles, the iodine content in the shell is regulated to <=10mol%, and the iodine content in the core is made higher than that in the shell by >=6mol%. The silver halide particles are blue- sensitized with a compound represented by the formula (where each of Y1 and Y2 is S, Se or O; each of W1-W6 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, halogen, amino, acrylamino or the like; adjacent W1-W6 may form an aromatic carbon ring; each of R1 and R2 is alkyl; X is an acid anion; and n=0 or 1). Since the silver halide particles each having a higher iodine content on the inside are sensitized with the blue-sensitive dye, high sensitivity in the blue light region, suprior graininess and sharpness can be attained. |
