PURPOSE:To aim at prolonging the life of a brake device in which the alternation of direction of braking action is detected by a switch to control the shut-off of a braking holding solenoid valve when a vehicle is stopped on an ascending slope, by securing this switch by means of a highly heat-insulative and vibration- absorptive attaching member. CONSTITUTION:Hydraulic fluid is fed from a master cylinder into a cylinder section 2 in a disc brake 80 when a brake pedal is depressed during running of a vehicle on an ascending slope, and therefore a piston is pushed out so that one of braking lining 9 is made in press-contact with one side surface of a rotor 10 while the other brake lining 12 is made in press-contact with the other side surface of the rotor 10 by means of a caliper section 3, thereby braking is effected. Further, when the vehicle comes to a stop so that a torque in the direction opposite to the direction of the running torque is effected, pad plates 8, 11 are pushed rightward to turn on a switch 20 which therefore energizes a braking holding solenoid valve. At this time a switch 20 is held in a recess 24 in a base member 7 by means of a rubber cylinder 22 and a rubber ring 23.
