PURPOSE:To remove toner precisely from the surface of an image carrier by changing the rotating direction of a developing means in accordance with the moving direction of the image carrier. CONSTITUTION:A toner developing device 14 is provided with a magnet roller 16 in its inside and a hollow sleeve 15 dipped into toner D stored in a developing device box. At the formation of a picture, i.e. at the forward movement of a photosensitive body A, the roller 16 is rotated by a developing motor in the counterclockwise direction. Consequently, the toner D is moved on the surface of the sleeve 15 in the clockwise direction and carried to the photosensitive body A to execute development. At the time of cleaning, i.e. at the backward movement of the photosensitive body A, the roller 16 is rotated by the developing motor in the clockwise direction at a speed slower than that of the development. Consequently, the toner D is moved on the surface of the sleeve 15 in the counterclockwise direction to execute cleaning. Thus, the toner on the image carrier can be precisely removed. |
