PURPOSE:To form a contact type image sensor reading an original in contact with the original by providing a lens to the rear side of a light-transmitting insulation substrate. CONSTITUTION:The lens 13 for condensing light 10 from a light source 9 on an original face 11 through a lighting window 3 is fixed to the rear side of the transparent insulation substrate 1. Since the irradiated light 10 of the light source 9 enters the lens 13, passes through the lighting window 3 and is condensed on the original face 11, all the irradiated light is condensed on the original face 11 in comparison that only the parallel light made incident on the lighting window 3 is irradiated on the original face 11 and the outer light is reflected conventionally, and the light quantity is increased remarkably, then the power consumption of the light source 9 required to obtain the same original face light quantity is lowered and heat dissipation is also decreased.
