PURPOSE:To decrease a thickness-shear spurious wave by cutting off a corner of a broadwise direction end face of a piezoelectric resonator utilizing spread vibration. CONSTITUTION:The piezoelectric resonator is used, in which the corner of the broadwise end face of the piezoelectric resonator utilizing the spread vibration is cut off. That is, the smooth end face 15 whose corner is cut off is subjected to polishing by a fine mesh (over #600) adhesive grindstone at its smooth end face. Through the processing above, the thickness-shear spurious vibration other than the spread vibration for the object is reduced.
