4H-Furo(3,2-b)-indole derivs. of formula (I) in which R1 is H, lower alkyl or 1-3C alkoxy in position 6 or 7, and R2 is phenyl, benzyl or linear 1-3C alkyl, are made by reacting an acid of formula (II) with 5-amino 1H-tetrazole in presence of trimethyl-amine borane in an aromatic hydrocarbon, e.g. toluene, benzene or xylene, at 20-180 deg.C.
